Someone once said - "Jacob saw angels ascending and descending, but none standing still." C.T. Cook said - "The Bible assumes, rather than asserts,
the existence of angels, as it does the fact of God Himself." T. Hewitt said - "Angels are clothed with God's power to accomplish His will in the realm of nature." (quotes taken from More Gathered Gold - A treasury of
quotations for Christians) 

The Scriptures abound with verses pertaining to angels. Some of the most familiar ones are as follows - 

Hebrews 1:13-14 - " But to which of the angels said He at any time, SIT ON MY RIGHT HAND, UNTIL I MAKE THINE ENEMIES THY FOOTSTOOL? Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?" 

Hebrews 13:2 - "Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unaware." 

Psalm 91:11-12 - "For He shall give His angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone."

Notice the Scriptures emphasize that the angels are "ministering spirits sent forth"  by God Almighty at His direction and command. They are not to be prayed to, commanded, or worshipped by any man. 

In fact, Hebrews 1:5-6 clearly defines Who alone deserves all the praise and the worship - "For unto which of the angels said he at any time, THOU ART MY SON, THIS DAY HAVE I BEGOTTEN THEE? And again, I WILL BE TO HIM A FATHER, AND HE SHALL BE TO ME A SON? And again, when He bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, AND LET ALL THE ANGELS OF GOD WORSHIP HIM." 

What do "all the angels of God" do? "Worship Him." Who is "Him" in this verse? 

"All the angels of God worship" this Great One whose name is Jesus! At no time ever do they accept worship from any man! 

As "ministering spirits, sent forth to minister to them who shall be heirs of salvation," angels have played a very important role in my life and the life of my family. They have been sent by God to speak a Word of direction to us, provide finances for us, minister healing to us, protect us, and confirm God's Love for us. 

Following are the different personal experiences when we encountered angels. 
May you be blessed and edified in these accounts and may the Lord
Jesus receive all of the Praise and the Glory for the Great Things that
He had done for us. 

1. A Word Of Direction

About 18 years ago, while seeking the Lord in my bedroom, I had a very unusual experience. I had been studying the Bible for about 4-5 hours nonstop. I was really being blessed of the Lord. I happened to get up from the bed where I was sitting to move to the chair near the window for a change of scenery. When I looked out the window, near the tree in the backyard was a man standing in a white robe. This man was not actually there in the physical. He was there in the spirit. I was having a vision. He spoke to me these words - "You are to go to Dallas." 

My husband and I were seeking the Lord for over a year as to what our
next move would be. We cried out to God for an answer. This day our
answer came. 

At the same hour in a different place, God spoke to my husband that we were to go to Dallas. How we rejoiced that our answer finally came. It was not very long afterwards when we moved from Pennsylvania to Dallas, Texas to start a Street Ministry. 

2. Financial Provision

Another time when I was visited by an angel was when I was in Bible School. After our first year, Carl and I owed $1000.00 on our school bill. We knew that God had sent us all the way from Pennsylvania to Dallas, Texas, to go to school. We were getting a little nervous because God seemed to be delaying the finances to pay off our bill. We began to fast and pray for answers. We kept telling the Business Office that we were doing everything we knew to do, and that God would somehow come through for us. 

In the meantime, I became very ill with the flu. This one particular day I was very ill with chills and fever, yet I felt as though the Lord was instructing me to go to school. I thought that perhaps God would minister healing to me in Chapel or during one of the classes. 

Well, I only grew worse as the time progressed. I agonized through my first period class. During the break, I decided that I surely had missed God and should be at home in bed. 

 In the lobby, I gathered my coat and other things together. I got the attention of one brother who was in Carl's next class. I asked him to let Carl know that I had gone home very ill. 

As I was getting my coat on and talking to this particular brother, a man
approached me whom I nor this brother had ever seen before. He handed me a large white envelope with my name printed on it. He then hurriedly left and disappeared into the crowd of students. 

The brother standing there said to me, "Why don't you open it? It looks like there is money in there." Feeling so dizzy and feverish, I opened the envelope to find 10 - 100 dollar bills. This was exactly what we owed on our school bill! 

Then I went to look for this stranger, he was gone! I never saw him again. 

God had sent His angel with the money for our bill! Thank You, Lord Jesus! Praise Your Holy and Wonderful Name!

3. Healing Touch

Another time I had gone to a Prayer Meeting. Carl stayed home because he was very ill. I asked the group if we could all remember him in our prayers for he was at home feeling very sick. 

A brother led in prayer. He prayed that God would send His angel to touch Carl. Little did we know that at the very moment that this brother was praying, Carl was awakened from a deep sleep to see a huge man, dressed in a blazing white robe, kneeling by his bedside and laying his hand upon him. He said that this man's shoulders were as broad as the length of the bed. He felt such Peace
and fell back asleep. 

When I got home from the Prayer Meeting, Carl was awake and feeling
great. How we rejoiced when we connected both stories together to find out that God had sent His angel to minister healing to him. 

4. God's Mighty Protection

As most of you are aware of, Carl, my 20 year old son John, and I have preached on the streets of Dallas for over 18 years. We preached amidst much danger at times. People carrying knives would pass us by. We also had knives pulled on us. One particular man would throw empty whiskey bottles at us. They never hit us. The shattered glass would only reach as far as our feet. 

One time while I was preaching, I was standing near the curb facing the store front. A city bus stopped right behind me to let its passengers off. Someone opened the window right behind my head and threw a full can of beer directly at the back of my head. 

Carl and John and several other preachers were witnesses to what I am
about to tell you. The can of beer went for my head but then stopped in mid air and then fell over my left shoulder. I did not get hurt in any way nor have one drop of beer spill on my body. 

Another time in the same place, I was preaching away. Suddenly, I just
stopped and told the crowd gathered there that day - "I know that I am not alone out here. I know that I am surrounded by two angels by my side." I had no idea why I said this other than the fact that God may have wanted someone to hear that that day who was planning harm to me. 

The very next week, I was in the same place preaching when a brother who we never met before but once was a member of the MauMaus - a gang led by Nicky Cruz (see The Cross and the Switchblade written by David Wilkerson) - came up to where we were and began talking to Carl. At this time, this man was no longer a gang member, but a Preacher of the Gospel.

Right in the middle of his conversation, he stopped Carl and asked, "Who is that woman preaching out there?" Carl answered, "That is my wife. Why?" Art ( that was his name)  then said, "She has two of the biggest angels standing out there on both sides of her." He was nowhere around the week before when I spoke those words. God allowed this brother to see into the spirit realm to assure us that even in the midst of the danger about us, God had everything under control and was watching over His own.

5. Assurance of God's Tender Love & Concern 

Lastly, my family and I were going through some rough times a few
summers past. I was feeling very discouraged at the time. It seemed that
God was nowhere in sight.

One particular morning I wept before the Lord and asked Him if He would just simply reveal to Carl, John, and I His Love for us. As the day went on, I totally forgot my prayer. However, God did not forget. 

That evening, we went out to the airport to a place called the Founder's
Plaza. Here people gather to watch the planes take off and land. 

Several people were gathered there on this particular evening. We didn't stay for very long. I kept feeling to give out tracts, but to be very honest with you, I was so discouraged about our circumstances that I just didn't feel like ministering to anyone. 

We drove away from this place only to have God speak to Carl and I both at the same time to go back for me to hand out the tracts. I gave out tracts to everyone except for a young man sitting on a wall all alone in the distance. 

I ran to give him a tract. As I approached him, I sensed something was very different about this man. He took my tract but did not say a word about it. He did not ask about it or thank me for it as the others did. He just looked me in the eyes with the most searching yet loving look and told me that our car's brake light was burnt out on the right side. He told me that I must get it fixed quickly or we will be stopped by the police. I assured him that I would go tell my husband, and we would tend to it immediately. 

As I walked away from this man, my spirit was overtaken with joy. I sensed in my heart that this was no ordinary man. I never looked back to see what he was doing. I got into the car and with great excitement, I exclaimed, "Oh! Carl, I think that man is an angel. He told me to get our break light fixed." 

We slowly drove away. Carl watched him through his rear view mirror. This man kept his eye on us the whole time as we drove away. The Lord then reminded me of my prayer in the morning. I began to cry with utmost Joy. I told Carl and John, "Oh, if God is so mindful to send His angel about a little thing such as a brake light, how much more shall He care to provide for the bigger needs that we have?" 

And Provide He did! The transmission on our car was going out. The Lord spoke to a Christian mechanic on a Sunday morning while he was shaving and told him to fix our car for nothing. And that he did! Plus he also replaced the radiator as well! 

How Gracious our Heavenly Father is that He would provide such Supernatural Beings to help us in our time of need! 

The songwriter said it so well - 

Yes, they do! They do God's bidding - which is ministering to us - the heirs of salvation. 

Hebrews 13:2 - Just Remember today - Do not forget to entertain strangers. You may be entertaining angels unawares.
