Comfort and peace can NEVER come from anything we know about ourselves, but ONLY and ALWAYS from what we know about God.  Nothing can set our hearts at rest but a real acquaintance with Him ("Acquaint now thyself with him (God), and be at peace. . ." Job 22:21) and we can only know God through His precious, inerrant Word.

"Remember the word unto thy servant upon which thou hast caused me to hope.  This is my comfort in my affliction. . ." (Psalm 119:49,50)

"For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope." (Romans 15:4)
