| Four of the most powerful words
are found in Job 22:29. Do you know what they are? The Scripture says -"When
men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up..."
"There is lifting up." Oh! Thank God! For in the times of trial and calamity, when men are cast down in their spirits, when they are cast down in their affairs, when they are sinking, desponding, and ready to despair; then the Word of the Lord will come saying - "There is lifting up." God will surely save the humble in heart and circumstances. Throughout the Scriptures we see that it is the Lord Who lifts up His people who are heavy-laden beneath the load of care. Psalm 147:6 says - "The LORD lifteth up the meek..." He relieves and restores all those who are afflicted, bowed down, oppressed, depressed in mind and circumstances, and downtrodden. Does this description fit you? God will surely relieve you and lift you up. In 1 Samuel 2:7 Hannah included these words in her prayer - "The LORD...He bringeth low, and lifteth up." It is the Lord Who sets on high, exalts, and raises up an individual. He brings low, but He also lifts up. In Psalm 28:9 David prayed, asking the Lord to "save," bless, feed, and lift up His people. He asked the Lord to help, deliver, rescue, and preserve them. This is Salvation. Then he asked the Lord to "feed" them. This included feeding them as a shepherd does his flock as well as ruling them as a father does his children. And, finally, he asked the LORD to "lift them up for ever." What he was asking here was that no enemy would ever prevail against God's chosen people. He asked God to lift His purchased people out of all their troubles and distresses. Psalm 146:8 tells us - "...the LORD raiseth them that are bowed down..." He comforts and supports the humbled and the cast down by removing their burdens. He makes those easy who are bowed down under the weight of care, trouble, and calamity. Are you bowed down under the duties, cares, and trials of life? God will raise you. There is lifting up. 2 Corinthians 7:6 says - "Nevertheless God, that comforteth those that are cast down..." He gives sweet consolation and encouragement to those who are anxious and depressed. Are you cast down today? Are you filled with anxiety over your present circumstances? Be encouraged. There is lifting up. God will set you free. He will surely help you. Psalm 18:27 says - "For Thou wilt save the afflicted people..." To those who are needy, weak, and have been wronged, God will give the Victory. Psalm 34:19 attests to this fact - "Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all." Do you feel as though you are surrounded on every side by enemies? Psalm 30:1 - Do as David did. Begin
to Praise the Lord for He will surely lift you up - "I will extol Thee,
O Lord; for Thou hast lifted me up, and hast not made my foes to rejoice
over me." The Lord will preserve you from the cruelties of your foes. He
will not allow them to triumph over you. He will draw you out as from a
well of difficulties. You will be able to declare as David did in Psalm
27:6 - "And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about
me..." Psalm 3:3 - You will also be able to say - "But Thou, O Lord,
art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head."
Surely it is the Lord Jesus Who relieves your distresses and takes away all your troubles. There is lifting up. Be encouraged.
Help is on the way.
May God Bless His
Word.
