Walk a Little Plainer Mommy
Walk a Little Plainer Daddy

Walk a little plainer mommy
Said a little child so frail,
I'm following in your footsteps
And I do not want to fail.

Sometimes your steps are very plain
At times they are hard to see,
Walk a little plainer mommy
For you are leading me.

I know you passed this way
So many years ago,
What you learned along the way
I really need to know.

Sometimes I'm very tempted
And not sure of what to do,
Walk a little plainer mommy
For I must follow you.

Some day when I grow up
It's like you I want to be,
One day I'll have a child
Who will want to follow me.

I'll want to lead them right
And have them to be true,
Walk a little plainer mommy
For we are following you.

Walk a little plainer daddy
Said a little boy so frail,

I'm following in your footsteps
And I do not want to fail,

Sometimes your steps are very plain
And sometimes they are hard to see,

Walk a little plainer daddy
For you are leading me,

I know you passed this way
So many years ago,

What you learned along the way
I really need to know,

Sometimes I'm very tempted
And don't know what to do,

Walk a little plainer daddy
For I must follow you,

Someday when I'm grown up
It's like you I wish to be,

One day I'll have a little boy
Who will want to follow me,

I'll want to lead him right
And have him to be true,

Walk a little plainer daddy
For I am following you.
