God Gave Me A Daughter

God gave to me a blessing,
A daughter of my soul;
With the charge to love her so,
Until she became completely whole.

So, I nurtured that sweet tenderness He gave,
With the wisdom of my God above,
Until she blossomed into a young lady;
Glowing brightly with His love.

And then, when she was grown,
Such a gentle loveliness to wear,
God said, "Thank you," to my mother heart,
"For this precious life is all prepared.

Now the wondrous work is all complete.
There is nothing more for you to do.
In Jesus grace, she is perfect for My heaven;
Her heart already soft and true.

For in loving Me, with all her heart,
She gave her life away.
I have no desire she suffer more of pain.
I will call her home to Me, today.

With love, you weep long for the loss.
But, you will know the comfort of My love
And, as time goes by, you will give thanks
That she is safe with Me, above.

Have faith.  I know the bigger picture,
That she will now be spared.
Grievous would be your sorrow to see her wither
In the heartbreak of another care.

For, though she left an emptiness,
Your love for her heart is more.
As, now, you wait in joyous anticipation
For the reunion you are longing for.

She left behind her precious gift,
The sweetness of her tender grace,
So you can smile beneath your tears
For the life that's glowing on her face.

For there cannot be a greater joy
Than bearing an eternal child
That God's heart so delights in;
He sweeps up in His arms, forever,
And with His beauty glorifies.
